Organize Your Stay at Home Business

Ever wondered how some people seem to be able to accomplish so much with so limited time? It doesn't seem fair, does it? We all get the same 24 hours. Why do they get more things done than most people do? And all the while, here you are burning yourself up trying to get things done and feeling more frustrated than fulfilled.

The trick here is proper time management. Being able to properly organize and schedule your activities will definitely improve your ability to beat deadlines and produce output. Here are a few tips on properly managing your time and your resources to increase you productivity.

Keep a Journal

Always keep a pen and some paper on hand. You may also use an organizer or even mobile devices to help you do so. This will allow you to jot down activities you are supposed to accomplish plus the resources, deadlines, and priorities for each project. This will help you remember and meet deadlines.

A journal also helps you budget your time. The cardinal sin for those seeking to accomplish much is to think that they have much time left. They push the start of work until they find themselves dangerously close to deadlines. Being able to start work on time and using your time meaningfully will do much to increasing your productivity.

Work Smarter, Not More

After receiving a project, you may be tempted to buckle down to work immediately. This may seem like a good thing; however, it could actually be counterproductive. The technique here is to work smarter by planning before you start. Planning may seem like a waste of time – until you realize that the time you spend twiddling with your pen, conceptualizing, and visualizing how your project should be executed is time well spent. With proper planning, completing your projects way ahead of time is definitely a possibility

Go over the work you have to do, and find ways to reduce redundant and repetitive tasks. This could reduce the time and cost of many of your tasks.

Make Time for Rest

Another trick that may seem counterintuitive is to make sure you have enough time for rest and recreation. Pulling one all-nighter should be okay, but pulling all-nighter after all-nighter will result in decreased productivity. Take frequent but short breaks to re-energize yourself.

Keep Healthy

You lose time when you get sick. Even if your illness will not sideline you from work, it will still affect your productivity and energy levels. Emphasis on health will make sense when you adopt the principle of quality instead of quantity. For example, 3 hours of work on optimum energy levels may be more productive than 6 hours of work on half a leg.

Get Organized

Set aside time to organize your stuff. You lose much time when you're going over the rubble of your equipment looking for lost and misplaced items.

Modularize

When you tackle a big problem head on, you are bound to get bruised. Break down the problem into manageable parts and tackle each part separately. The sense of fulfillment of being able to win little battles will spur you on to tackle other challenges. Moreover, being free from the clutter of having to consider the problem as a whole will prevent you from being overwhelmed by the task.

What About Affiliate Programs for the Stay at Home Business?

So, what is an affiliate and what does he or she do?

The affiliate marketer acts as a "middle man" between merchant and consumer, but without adding anything to the consumer's cost. Affiliates do not mark up or resell products. Instead, the affiliate educates and directs the consumer to a product, and they receive a percentage of the sale in commission from the merchant. The affiliate acts as an independent lead generator for the merchant by bringing in new customers.

This is a win-win situation for both the affiliate and the merchant. The affiliate can reap a full-time income marketing a whole suite of products that he does not own. They don't pay for product creation, don't have to ship anything and don't deal with customer service issues or returns. The merchant benefits from the influx of new customers, the boatloads of cheap traffic and low cost advertising. Merchants get their product and their brand in front of thousands of potential buyers without paying a dime until someone makes a purchase. It is truly a pay for performance arrangement. It's also one of the toughest types of business to earn a significant income from. Competition is fierce and almost 95% of affiliates earn little or no income.

For the lucky few, the ones that know how to do it the rewards can be amazing. This course has been created to help you become one of the few and to perform at the very highest levels of Affiliate Marketing . . .

CHOOSING AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM

Before you begin your venture into affiliate marketing, it is necessary to choose the right program for you. There are almost as many programs out there as there are products! When you first start out, it's easy to go overboard signing up to as many programs as possible, but this isn't the right way to go about it.

First, you need to decide on a area of particular interest to you. What products do you know the most about and think you could do the best job of promoting?

Once you identify your specialty, you begin by sorting through the available merchants and examine the structure of their affiliate programs.

Key areas to investigate:

1. When and how do you get paid?
Find out whether the program pays you weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, etc. Most programs have a minimum payout amount, meaning that you don't receive your commissions until hitting a minimum number of sales for the pay period. You'll also want to find out whether the programs pays you via cheque, direct deposit, PayPal or any combination of the three.

2. How much do you make per sale?
Remember, you'll be investing your own money into advertising and other expenses to promote these programs. Therefore, you should seek programs which reward their affiliates well. Many of the most popular affiliate programs out there pay their affiliates less than 10 percent commission, and therefore it is only the top 5 percent of their affiliates that are generating any serious income from these programs.

3. Is the program managed well? Is this a reputable company?
Larger companies usually have "affiliate managers" devoted to maintaining contact with their affiliates. Even if you go with a smaller outfit, they should at least offer clear contact information. You might want to try e-mailing them at their contact address to see how fast they respond to you. Mis-managed programs are, at best, a sign of disorganization and, at worst, could indicate a company in trouble. The last thing you want is to be sitting on hundreds of dollars worth of hard earned commissions and see the merchant go out of business before paying you.

Change Up & Enjoy your Home Business & Life More

Do you feel that your life is starting to stagnate into a boring routine? Well before you get depressed, break away from that cycle! Do something to get the adrenalin pounding through your veins again. The easiest way is to make simple changes, here's how:

Same end, different means - drive a different route, take a walk during lunch time instead of going to war with your paperwork again, read suspense novels instead of your usual genre, etc. The end result may be the same but doing it another way opens up a new pathway of experience that you may find surprisingly refreshing. You might even find that this new way is better or even easier. Change one thing at a time until you're totally comfortable with it.

Scale down or up - When you put layers of clothing on, it will be impossible for you not to feel the added weight of the textile materials right? The same goes with your life. The more complicated it is the more you have to deal with: different people or situations. If you're too stressed with the amount of work that entails, scale down. Distribute your responsibilities, learn to delegate and be polite but firm in saying "no" to added work. Now, if you want to move up on the career ladder, start accepting more duties. Again, do only as much as you are able.

Change good habits for better ones - If you keep on slugging it out with the Stairmaster every time you go to the gym, sooner or later, you are going to get bored with it. Why not try Pilates or kickboxing or swimming to keep fit? There are a lot of ways to keep fit. Even running around keeping up with your kids' energy will reduce calories. Speaking of kids, if you take time to help them with schoolwork why don't you try getting them to join you in other worthwhile activities like sports or hobbies or even volunteer work. The life lessons you'll both learn will be priceless and the bonding time that will come about is an added bonus too.

A change of scenery - Sometimes a simple flower arrangement or a funny cartoon can make a dreary office more cheerful. The eye seeks out and immediately zones in on something that alters their usual image so if you add on a little splash of color to what it usually sees, you'll definitely get a reaction. Pleasant or not, that change breaks the routine.

Simple changes to simple things make life more enjoyable.

Home Business Income Taxes and Interest

For financial planning purposes, there are two kinds of debt; good debt, and bad debt. When money is borrowed with the purpose of earning income and the interest is tax deductible this is good debt. Borrowing money to pay for purchases such as vacations, vehicles, recreational items where the interest is not tax deductible is bad debt. Please note that this is a discussion on good debt versus bad debt and not on the appropriateness of any particular investment or purchase.

In our accounting business, I had a client very pleased that the $100,000 debt he incurred to purchase his business was paid off. On the surface, this may be a good thing, but in the background were over $60,000 of outstanding personal loans for a recreational vehicles. The $4,200 (at a 7% interest rate) interest that this individual will continue to pay on his personal loans is not tax deductible. If he had paid off his personal loans and had $60,000 remaining on his business debt, the $4,200 would have been tax deductible. Assuming a marginal tax rate is 25%, the tax savings would have been $1,050! This tax savings could then be used in any way the individual sees fit.

A similar situation would exist where a person was investing in real estate, the stock market, or other types of passive income potential. It is a better tax and wealth building strategy to use whatever funds are available to pay off personal debt where the interest is not tax deductible. Then you can borrow money for the investment you were going to make anyway and then be able to use the interest expense as a deduction from your income. The tax savings to you can be substantial.

Your banker should have no problem with what you are doing and many are likely doing this sort of arrangement themselves already. For tax write off purposes, it doesn't matter what the loan collateral is, it does matter what the actual item purchased is. So if you put up your personal debt-free car as collateral, the interest can still be deductible if used for appropriate business or other investments.

As we can see from this example, it is important to consider the tax consequences of our debt related decisions. Simply put, personal debt where the interest is not tax deductible should be paid off first. Then, a decision to pay off business or investment debt must include consideration for alternate uses of the money. This can only be done on an individualized basis and a financial advisor or accountant should be brought into your team.

Dare to be Different for Home Business Success

Do you know how cows behave? They move in groups; they follow the herd.

Don't you feel that some people are like the cows? Many stay at the sideline waiting for brave souls to go in first. If they smell success, they jump in and join. Many wanted only to follow the direction that the crowd takes, rather than dare to trek the road less traveled.

Successful people are usually the first in the field. They are not crowd followers but crowd leaders. By the time other people join in the ship, these crowd leaders have either become leaders of the field or have moved on to different pursuits.

Being the first in the field, many successful people employ unorthodox, eccentric, unconventional ways and 'out of the ordinary' actions. Their actions are often times hailed as innovative and creative, for they were the first to think about them. These people are so determined to make it to the top that they push themselves to think out of the box to address seemingly insurmountable difficulties so that they may be able to overcome obstacles.

You need not always be conventional. It is okay to try out uncommon approaches to solve a problem as long as these are within legal, moral and ethical rules, and as long as no one gets hurt in the process. Oftentimes, people judge pioneers harshly; other people perceive them as going nuts and losing their marbles for pursuing a different approach.

Remember the story about Noah's Ark? A man named Noah heeded God's call to build a boat in preparation for the forthcoming great flood. Everybody laughed at Noah. They think he was nuts. Noah may be nuts but the boat he and his family built saved their lives and animals from the great flood.

The same thing is true when it comes to the attainment of your goal. If you want to achieve success in life, try to be different. When was the last time you acted differently in pursuit of something you want? At times, it may be true that problems require unconventional solutions. Would you hesitate to be unconventional for fear of being an object of ridicule, even if your goal to success is on the line? The answer lies within you.

Success comes to those who are daring and willing to take calculated risks. A word of clarification regarding risk takers: we are NOT referring to those who do bungee jumping, jumping out of airplanes, daredevil maneuvers, etc.

Successful people take CALCULATED risks as they pursue different approaches. They have gone through all the choices and painstakingly studied all details before deciding on the best option. Decisions are not based on tossed coins, for this is not a game of heads or tails.

If you will analyze it, acting unconventionally requires more brain activity than just going with the trend. For one, you have to scrutinize all possible alternatives, whereas merely following is just like copying what the others have previously done. Less mental activity is required when you just follow others.

So, how do you assess yourself? Are you like a cow or a risk taker? Do you follow the crowd or dare to be different? Do you take the conventional path or the road less traveled?

Take Responsibility for Your Life Success

We all face hardships at some point in our lives. Some of us own responsibility and get on with our lives while most of us blame others. When you own responsibility for yourself you empower yourself. You are the cause and your life experiences are the results in your life. You determine the direction of your life. You are in control of your life.
If you are not able to explain why your life is as it is, you are probably giving your power away to someone else, are you? Most of us tend to blame something else or someone else or our fate for all bad experiences in our life such as abusive childhood, loss of a loved one or broken relationships. When you are not in control of yourself or your life that means you are powerless. Blaming is a disempowering emotion.

If you think by blaming others for your life you are getting away from problems you are completely wrong. Your life problems would stay the same and recur again and again as long as you make someone else responsible for your life. You give others power to control you and your life. So your life problems would tend to stay the way they are until you take back your power and claim full responsibility for your emotions, actions and life as a whole.

True empowerment is taking responsibility for your life so that you are free to do whatever you want to do and be anything you choose to be.

Here are 4 tips to empower you:

1) Make your own choices - Life is full of choices and you have the freedom to choose. You learn only through trial and error. Be bold and accept the outcome of your decisions. If your choice is correct, be happy. If not do not blame yourself or others. Instead, analyze where you went wrong and correct yourself. The next time around, you may be able to make the right choices.

2) Practice deep breathing - If you make it a habit to practice deep breathing throughout the day, you would have clarity in your thoughts. You feel more relaxed to think clearly and make good judgments of your situations.

3) Feel grateful - Gratitude is something we never show for many things we enjoy in our life. Instead of cursing your problems look around you and realize how blessed you are to have nature bestow you good health, sunshine, food, good relationships, fresh air, etc. When you feel grateful for these things you are convinced that life is not bad at all.

4) Develop mental awareness - Observe your thoughts. Are they good or bad? Are they positive or negative? If your thoughts are positive it is good. You could act on them with positive results. What if you have negative thoughts? You could still control them if you are aware of them. Empower yourself by being aware of your good and bad thoughts.

When you deal with your own pains and pleasures you are the controller of your life. Just know that no one else could take away your power to control your life and events because you are the master of your destiny.

Problems Aren't Really a Problem

So called problems are present in everyone's daily life. Life is filled with never-ending challenges. We all experience them at work, home, with relationships, children, society, etc. They just creep up everywhere in every area of our life. When problems overshadow you, you are affected by physical and mental illness. Problems seem to be one common factor that pervades each and every soul on planet earth. Could we look at problems in a positive way and overcome them easily? We could. Then they will not be problems.

Problems are only problems if we define them so. You could look at problems in a different light. Whenever you encounter a problem in future, try to look at it indifferently. If you analyze your problems they may turn out to be learning events in real life. Problems are solvable. Problems are a creation of your mind when you dwell on a situation without action.

Here are 7 easy ways to overcome problems:

Own a problem - People generally blame others when they are faced with problems. Problems never go away with this approach. Instead, accept responsibility for the problem. Do not blame anyone else or any other circumstance for your problem. When you own a problem, you take up the issue in your hand and start to work for a solution with a personal interest. This is the first sign of progress towards a solution.

Define the problem - You have to define a problem in order to understand the exact issue. Analyze it to understand it well.

Ask the right questions - what is the problem, how did it start, how bad is the effect, etc. When you look into the problem rather than at the problem, you get to the core of the problem. Getting at the root cause would eradicate the problem forever. So define and look for ways to eradicate the root cause of your problem.

Analyze the 'ifs' and 'but's - Ask more questions such as: 'what if the problem is not solved immediately? What is the worst outcome? 'But, if not solved, how long could you go on with this problem?' etc. Be prepared to face risks and proceed to accept the worst. After good brainstorming, you would feel calm since you are ready to face the consequences.

List possible solutions - When you are calm look around for possible solutions. Make a list of all possible answers. Again brainstorm. You could examine and evaluate all possible solutions. You would be surprised at the possible answers you have at hand for your problem.

Select the best solution - After examining and evaluating and brainstorming, you would be able choose the best possible solution. Once you decide on a particular solution take steps to act on it immediately.

Focus only the end results - Focus only on what you desire to achieve. According to the law of universe, your thoughts, feelings, intentions and actions create your reality. If these were clear, your problems would also clear out into thin air.

So remember, whenever you have a problem - own it, define it, analyze the 'if's and 'but's, list your solutions, brainstorm and select the best one, act on it immediately and focus on positive results. It is that simple!

Self-efficacy Defined

This definition was taken from Wikipedia. I had a hard time figuring this out as I listened to the Denis Waitley CD that I received from Success university, so I researched and thought I would share some of what I have found.

Self-efficacy is the belief that one is capable of performing in a certain manner or attaining certain goals. It is a belief that one has the capabilities to execute the courses of actions required to manage prospective situations. Unlike efficacy, which is the power to produce an effect (in essence, competence), self-efficacy is the belief (whether or not accurate) that one has the power to produce that effect. For example, a person with high self efficacy may engage in a more health related activity when an illness occurs, whereas a person with low self efficacy would harbor feelings of hopelessness.

It is important here to understand the distinction between self-esteem and self-efficacy. Self-esteem relates to a person's sense of self-worth, whereas self-efficacy relates to a person’s perception of their ability to reach a goal. For example, say a person is a terrible rock climber, they would likely have a poor self-efficacy in regard to rock climbing, but this wouldn't need to affect their self-esteem; most people don’t invest much of their self-esteem in this activity. Conversely, one might have enormous skill at rock climbing, yet set such a high standard for himself that his self-esteem is low.

The concept of self-efficacy is the focal point of Albert Bandura's social cognitive theory. By means of the self-system, individuals exercise control over their thoughts, feelings and actions. Among the beliefs with which an individual evaluates the control over his/her actions and environment, self-efficacy beliefs are the most influential arbiter of human activity. Self-efficacy – the belief in one's capabilities to organize and execute the courses of action required to produce given attainments – is constructed on the basis of the four most influential sources: enactive attainment, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion and physiological as well as emotional factors. Self-efficacy plays the central role in the cognitive regulation of motivation, because people regulate the level and the distribution of effort they will expend in accordance with the effects they are expecting from their actions.

A Healthy Way to View Wealth

I am sharing a piece of Thomas Troward's essay "The Sprit of Opulence" because it has had a profound impact on many lives including my own. So here goes:

We must not make ourselves dependent on any particular form of wealth, or insist on its coming to us through some particular channel. That is at once to impose a limitation, to shut out other forms of wealth, and to close other channels. Rather, we must enter into the spirit of it. Now the spirit is Life: and throughout the Universe, Life ultimately consists in circulation — whether within the physical body of the individual or on the scale of the entire solar system. Circulation means a continual flowing around, and the spirit of opulence is no exception to the Universal law of all life.

When once this principle becomes clear to us we shall see that our attention should be directed rather to the giving than to the receiving. We must look upon ourselves, not as misers' chests to be kept locked for our own benefit, but as centres of distribution. The better we fulfil our function as such centres, the greater will be the corresponding inflow. If we choke the outlet, the current must slacken, and a full and free flow can be obtained only by keeping it open. The spirit of opulence — that is, the opulent mode of thought — consists in cultivating the feeling that we possess all sorts of riches which we can bestow upon others, and which we can bestow liberally because by this very action we open the way for still greater supplies to flow in.

But you say, "I am short of money; I hardly know how to pay for necessaries. What have I to give?"

The answer is that we must always start from the point where we are. If your wealth at the present moment is not abundant on the material plane, you need not trouble to start on that plane. There are other sorts of wealth, still more valuable, on the spiritual and intellectual planes, with which you can begin. You can start from this point and practise the spirit of opulence even though your balance at the bank may be nil. And then the Universal Law of Attraction will begin to assert itself. You will not only begin to experience an inflow on the spiritual and intellectual planes, but it will extend itself to the material plane also.

If you have realised the spirit of opulence, you cannot help drawing to yourself material good as well as that higher wealth which is not to be measured by any monetary standard. When you truly understand the spirit of opulence, you will neither affect to despise this form of good, nor will you attribute to it a value that does not belong to it; but you will co-ordinate it with your other more interior forms of wealth so as to make it the material instrument in smoothing the way for their more perfect expression.

Used thus, with understanding of the relation which it bears to spiritual and intellectual wealth, material wealth becomes one with them, and is no more to be shunned and feared than it is to be sought for its own sake.

It is not money, but the love of money, that is the root of evil. The spirit of opulence is precisely the attitude of mind which is furthest removed from the love of money for its own sake. It does not believe in money. What it does believe in is the generous feeling which is the intuitive recognition of the great law of circulation, which does not in any undertaking make its first question, 'How much am I going to get by it?' but rather, 'How much am I going to do by it?' And making this the first question, the getting will flow in with a generous profusion, and with a spontaneity and rightness of direction that are absent when our first thought is of receiving only.

We are not called upon to give what we have not yet got and to run into debt; but we are to give liberally of what we have, with the knowledge that by so doing we are setting the law of circulation to work. As this law brings us greater and greater inflows of every kind of good, so our out-giving will increase — not by depriving ourselves of any expansion of our own life that we may desire, but by finding that every expansion makes us more powerful instruments for expanding the life of others. "Live and let live" is the motto of true opulence.
