The following was sent to me by Self-Improvement eBooks. Last year I subscribed to their excellent 21 day Pathway to Prosperity email course and I still receive awesome messages from them regularly. Below is something that I need to share with you. One of the keys to financial freedom is to create a "Golden Goose" where you can eventually live off the "eggs". It was Aesop, who told a tale with a moral core in The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs. A man and his wife had the good fortune to possess a goose that laid a golden egg every day. For a while they were happy and lived well, but then they became impatient with how quickly they were accumulating their wealth. So they thought that if the goose could lay such a fine egg of gold, it must be lined with the precious metal. If they cut the goose open, they could get the gold all at once. Of course we all know what happened, the goose was just a goose and there was no gold inside. For Aesop, the moral of the story was much wants more and loses all. There is also a hidden message in this tale, - true gold comes from the process of creating. Look after your Golden Goose. Never Mistake the Egg as the Gift. We have become a society that values things more than people. It is often joked, tongue-in-cheek that you are only as good as your last accomplishment. That is the ultimate lie. We are not a collection of the things that we do, the sale that we make, or the goal that is conquered. You are the gift. You are the Golden Goose. The egg is just the last thing you created. Wherever you are right now in your life, please stop for a moment and hear this truth. The true gold lies not in the outcome or accomplishment, it is in the process of creating. When you give yourself a little space and care for the Golden Goose inside you, you will once again lay a golden egg. Don't worry, there is nowhere to go, you have everything you need for the blissful life you desire. You just forgot where the true gold lives - inside of you. Financial independence is a journey. And like any journey, if a person wants to travel from where they are to where they want to be, they need to know where they are starting from, where they want to be going, and the options of how to get there. And if they've never been there before, they need a map, even if it's only used as a reference for when they lose their way or the planned road is temporarily or permanently closed. What people are looking for is a roadmap to prosperity. That roadmap will differ from family to family and individual to individual. Each family has its own situation, needs, values, priorities and definitions of financial freedom. Furthermore, families and individuals want to educate themselves in how money works without being dependent on their bank, their insurance agent, or even their financial adviser. They want to be able to make their own choices for their own journey. And most want "enlightened" financial freedom - to achieve abundance without compromising their integrity, their values, their happiness or their friends. They want to understand basic financial principles so that they can develop "golden eggs" from their own financial freedom "goose". Happily, there is a ready-made formula to feed your Golden Goose to the point of rapid delivery of a magical stream of golden eggs through the creation of a "Prosperity Consciousness". Prosperity Consciousness is based on the idea that our thoughts create the reality we see and experience on a daily basis. By using a specific set of tools, we can root out the negative thinking which is causing us to experience lack and transform our lives on all levels and attract a bounty of abundance. Copyright © Mark Styranka We have seen Conrad Black, Martha Stewart, Enron, Tyco, WorldCom, and countless others in the headlines as their career or business is examined to see “what went wrong?” Newspaper headlines scream about insider trading, companies cooking their books, and other scandals involving business executives at mostly major corporations. Even today, many are questioning the ethics of lenders and investors in the sub-prime market as people are losing their homes to foreclosure and investors are losing their money through direct or indirect involvement. Why was money lent to people who could not afford payments when normal market rates would come into effect? Why would lenders package these loans without identifying the inherent risk of them to the purchasers?
Scandals such as these tarnish the reputations of business in general, including the small business owner. Investors perceive higher risk, customers are more wary, and the financial industry gets reluctant to extend credit. In spite of this, many small-business owners think a written code of ethics unnecessary. There are even more home businesses that would not believe that a code of ethics is necessary for them. This assumption is simply false. There is a huge benefit to having a written code of ethics for the small business including your home business.
A code of ethics will identify to suppliers, customers, contractors, and employees what behavior is up to standard and what is not. We will come across ethics violators in the normal course of business and we must stand firm to our code of ethics and avoid dealing with these people.
A written code of ethics identifies those basics that you consider essential in operating a business of integrity and character. Communicating this on your website and other informational material will give you an advantage in the marketplace. If you live by it, you will have the added benefit of being able to sleep at night.

Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy http://www.PlugInProfitSite.com/main-19156How is your business doing? Is it growing, stagnating or losing ground? If your business is not growing, it could be the result of a poor business idea or plan, a lack of advertising, or the mismanagement of your business’ resources. Let’s face it. Running a successful business enterprise is not the easiest thing to accomplish. Your struggles could be the result of factors beyond your own control or factors within your control --- your own actions and decisions. FACTORS OUTSIDE YOUR OWN CURRENT CONTROL If your business is stagnating or dying, there are several factors that could be the cause of your current financial discomfort:· Your local economy could be suffering stagnation or negative growth.· Your competition might be fiercely competing for your customer base.· The building, into which you have signed a lease, might be seen by local residents as the home of businesses that fail, so they will not support you until you have proven your long term viability.· You could be in a terrible location and trapped by your lease. FACTORS WITHIN YOUR OWN CONTROL On the other side of the coin, there are several more factors that could be causing you pain that are well within your control: -You are not spending enough time planning for the future of your business. -You are not spending enough time or resources on developing and distributing good advertising. -You do not have enough staff available to fill incoming orders or to serve interested customers. -You are simply mismanaging your financial or human resources. THE MOST ABUSED HUMAN RESOURCE IN MOST BUSINESSES By watching the activities of many small business owners, one has to ask themselves if the business owners are masochistic? Source: http://dictionary.reference.com/MASOCHISTIC - adj :2. The deriving of pleasure, or the tendency to derive pleasure, from being humiliated or mistreated, either by another or by oneself. 3. A willingness or tendency to subject oneself to unpleasant or trying experiences. How is it that I can even venture to suggest this definition fits the behavior of many small business owners? Simple. Small business owners often submit themselves and their families to the demands of their business. Sometimes to the detriment of those involved in their lives. Of course, one could argue that the small business owner is sacrificing his or herself for the long-term benefit of their families and themselves. Well, one could argue that. And in some cases, the argument would be true. In other cases, the argument would not even remotely be true. THE DANGER IN FAILING TO UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF YOUR OWN TIME The deadliest consequence in any business is the owner’s failure to understand the value of his or her own time. Even a thriving business can die under the weight of an owner who does not place the proper value on his or her own time. Some owners work long hours for little return because they do not understand their own value. Some of these owners will eventually quit their business for a job that could provide a higher living wage. Others, while thriving, may keep themselves doing tasks that can be and should be done by others. Sometimes, the business owner wants to believe that he or she alone can do the task, or they want to do the things they most enjoy. In the end, these folks fail because the important tasks that should have been done for the purpose of growing the business or meeting the demands of the business have gone undone. The business collapses because they did not take care of the most important facets of their business. PLANNING, GOAL SETTING AND MEASURING COULD CHANGE YOUR FUTURE PLANNING will permit you to see where you want to go and how you hope to get there.GOAL SETTING permits you to make certain specific determinations about your business. One such goal that should be set early and regularly is the level of income that you want to derive from your business. MEASURING lets you see the true state of your business at any one point in time. Measuring at regular intervals lets you see a moving slide show that will deliver an honest picture of the continuing state of your business. Additional measuring will permit you to see how much your time could be worth and how much you are really paying yourself. Your measurements should also permit you to put a cost on the specific tasks and functions that are required in the operation of your business. MAKING THE RIGHT DECISIONS If the amount that you want to be paid and could be paid is higher than the cost of doing the task that you are doing, then you should wisely consider having someone in your employment handle the task. Properly managing tasks and delegating the work at hand can make or break your business. Make the correct decisions and you will be treating yourself better than the average small businessperson. I wish you and your business the very best. To Your Success! Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy P.S. Copyright © Mark Styranka "It's the little things you do that can make a big difference. What are you attempting to accomplish? What little thing can you do today that will make you more effective? You are probably only one step away from greatness." -- Bob Proctor Bob Proctor has influenced many people through his coaching programs, books, speaking programs, recorded courses, The Secret and so on. He was initially and significantly influenced by Wallace Wattle's book The Science of Getting Rich. Bob Proctor has since become a wealthy man in all repsects: money, fame, relationships & time. In his coaching & teaching endeavors he shares what he knows with other. The questions contained in this quote are at the core of Wallace Wattles the Science of Getting Rich, Napoleon Hills book Think and Grow Rich, Jack Canfields book Success Principles and are a significant part of Bob Proctors message to us. It is critical to have a goal and to write it down. Proctor suggests to use the following: "I am so happy and grateful now that_________", and fill in the blank. This should be done in every area of our life. To get there, he tells us to find someone who has achieved what we want to achive and find out how they did it. Then our job is to record those things as the steps to reach our own goals. We must plan our days so that we accomplish as much as we can but we need to do at least one small step towards our goal. Mr. Proctor states in his Liberty League tapes that the successful person does those things that the unsuccessful person does not like to do, and that with practice, we will become competent with them and begin to like doing it. So we need to do those things to reach our goals, that others have done, even if we don't like to, at first anyway. Mark Styranka is the owner of Exciting Destiny.com and Bargain Deals Mart.com. For many small businesses, it seems easier and more economical to outsource accounting functions by hiring an accounting firm that will provide the services as you need them. On the other hand, if you make use of the accounting software that is available on the market, you can probably do the work yourself and pay your accountant to reconcile your books once a month. There are many good software products and I use Quickbooks myself. Though many small businesses choose to hire someone to do the work, you have to weigh the cost factor against your profits in order to determine if it is cost effective. Depending on the amount of business you do, it's possible you can hire someone part-time who will come in one or two days a week and do all of the accounting work. If your business is cash and carry via cash, credit card, debit card, or check, there will be less involved than if you choose to offer in-house accounts. When you first open your business, you may not feel that you want to hire someone just to handle the accounting functions, but as your business grows, you may find that it makes more sense to have someone right there. For a small business, a full-charge bookkeeper is your best choice instead of having one person to perform accounts receivable and another one to perform accounts payable. Even if you have house accounts, there is no need to have two people in accounting unless your business is very busy. You should, however, still have a system of checks and balances where someone else checks the work of your bookkeeper even if that is you or another employee. That ensures that your books are in order and that no invalid entries are made in the books to hide theft. Instead of hiring a bookkeeper, many small business owners choose to bring their spouses in to take care of all of the accounting functions for the company. This may include payroll, or they may decide to hire a payroll outsourcing firm to take care of that portion of the books. Having your spouse there means there is less likelihood of book juggling since he or she would only be stealing from family funds anyway. It's also more efficient to have a family member help out and more likely that he or she will catch any discrepancies you may have missed when counting the register operated by each employee as well as any inventory that may not total the difference between previous count and new sales. It is sometimes easy for a small business owner to overlook theft by employees because he wants to believe he hired honest people. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen, so you rely on the person who does the accounting to look for anything suspicious. Copyright © Mark Styranka It is difficult to balance customer service and perceived value with the desire of the business to make money. Most businesses are not altruistic and must earn a profit to justify their existence. On the other hand, this cannot be done "at all costs". By this I mean that a business must earn its income ethically and fairly. Some thoughts on this are as follows. The western world's "Golden Rule" of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is not unique. Although other cultures have different stories or ways of expressing it, the idea of treating others how you want to be treated is universal. In my accounting world, I know of a client (call him Fred) who made millions from his business but much of it was obtained through broken contracts & promises, failure to pay bills, and inappropriate invoicing. Fred's financial life was going along quite famously (at least in his view) for a number of years. But then something happened. Fred got involved in a large money making scheme where his larger partner reneged on fulfilling his portion of the contract and Fred was left bankrupt. Fred now says he "Lived by the sword and died by the sword". Fred learned a life lesson the hard way. Myself, I prefer to learn from other peoples success, failures, and mistakes. It is less painful. Honest mistakes are tolerable so long as we repair the damage done to others and ourselves and carry on with the intention to not repeat the error. Untrustworthy persons are likely to have surrounded themselves with other untrustworthy persons. Thereby, they may get cheated themselves or turned into the authorities by a reformed cohort who they took into their confidence. These people must live in fear of being exposed and losing it all. By the same token, a trustworthy person is likely to be surrounded by others of this character. They will conduct their business honestly and fairly. These people sleep well at night knowing that if they continue to do what they are doing, things will work out for them. They should have nothing to fear. To apply the above to an internet marketing business is relatively easy. For example, the best internet marketers suggest that the business owner purchase and try a product before promoting it for sale from their business. From our own experience, if we determine that the product has the value it claims to have, then we will be able to ethically market it. If we are disappointed with the product, then we can be sure that our customers will also be unsatisfied and we should discard the product regardless of how much money we think we might be able to make. I am not talking about whether the product meets the sellers specific needs but rather does the product do what the seller says it will? Is the value of the product, to the user, greater than its cost to them? If the marketer is happy with the product, then they should not have to worry about any repercussions from unhappy customers. There will always be unhappy customers, for a variety of reasons, but at least the seller knows that due diligence was performed and it is out of their control. The business owner should also be willing to readily refund money to genuinely dissatisfied customers. One marketing technique is to let a prospect try out the product first and pay later. The goal should be to meet the needs of the customer and not to make a quick profit. The best marketers build relationships and then sell to the customer many times. An unhappy customer will not risk another purchase from a business owner that did not "take care of the problem", thereby eliminating the possibility of a lifetime of future sales. Customer management also means that the business owner must protect the business from being taken advantage of. The present and future value of each customer must be carefully considered to ensure optimal decision making. It could be that if a customer is never satisfied but continues to purchase products from a vendor and then regularly returns them, that the business severs the relationship. It is true that some customers are not worth the effort expended and our energy could be better used elsewhere. But extreme care should be used to end the relationship gracefully and with respect. For many people making money from the comfort of their home with a web-based business is an ideal opportunity. However, They may also have the misconception that, like the field of dreams, if they build it, they may not come. Building a web based business can be similar to placing a business in an unmarked building. Without advertising and strategically placed billboards or other forms of advertising, no one will know the business even exists. Building a business takes time and relying strictly on word of mouth can takes years before the business becomes noticed, especially in the saturated internet market. There are steps you can take to make your site stand out from the rest of the thousands of others on the internet, but most often a marketing plan is not a one-shot deal. It will take and effort to raise your site into the vision of those surfing the internet for your products or services. While domain names can be cute or even reflect the actual name of your business, if someone is looking for tires, for instance, they are going to enter the word tires into a search engine. They are not going to enter the name “Joes Treading Lightly” or “Bobs Auto Store.” Even having the word tires in the name of your web-based business may not be attractive to search engines. Most business are going to be the best at what they do, and few others will have the knowledge about the business that the owner possesses. If the business owner is writing all the copy for the site, they may end up providing more information than the potential customers are looking for and end up pushing their site lower onto the search engines index pages. There has been a standard approach to business marketing used for years, know as the KISS method of marketing. Keep It Simple Stupid may sound overly easy, but it is true. Too much information can confuse customers as well as search engines, leaving your site along the least traveled road. Building a web-based business will require time and effort and keeping it updated with fresh material will please both your customers and the search engines. Do not make the mistake about who, or what will be attracted to your web-based business. Too many people focus on making their site more attractive to the search engines and forget about where the sales are going to come from. There are rarely any incidents in which a search engine made a purchase from a web site. Look at your site like a customer and do whatever it takes to make it user friendly. If a customer can find the information they are looking and the pages are easily navigated it will improve their experience at your internet store and well as improve your sales. Copyright © Mark Styranka Google AdSense is an advertising tool in which you allow for an affiliate site advertisement to appear on your site. This affiliate site link is offered to you through Google AdSense after application approval. Your sites content is automatically crawled for specific content so that ads relating to your site content are the only ads to appear on your site. You earn money when site viewers click on an AdSense advertisement. This advertising method is therefore twice as helpful since you are able to earn additional money while offering your customers a helpful service. You are providing links that will appeal to their search needs. An example of this is a site offering baking tips. An AdSense ad-linking customers to a site offering baking supply merchandise can be a great help to site viewers. The process for Google AdSense set up is simple. Your first step in becoming an AdSense publisher is to fill out a free online application. In order to qualify you must have a launched site with acceptable content and a valid URL. Acceptable content refers to the information that is included within your site. If there is any information pertaining to violence, racism, pornography, computer hacking, illegal drugs, gambling, profanity or any other content seen as inappropriate by the Google team, the site will be deemed as having unacceptable content and can be refused for AdSense advertising. Another requirement is a valid payee name and mailing address to receive payments. You receive payments through an electronic fund transfer (ETF) where funds are sent directly to your bank account with no hassles or interaction. Any time a site visitor clicks on an AdSense ad you earn a portion of the advertisers payment. You cannot encourage visitors to click on the featured ads. You can state that they are sponsored links, but you cannot tell viewers to visit them or click on them or list the sites as a favorite. You are also warned not to set up any method to create invalid clicks. If any artificial clicks by robots or automated methods are found to be in use your account will be disabled. If you follow all of the guidelines and or program policies set in place by Google AdSense you will be pleased with your decision to join this advertising campaign. You will see that only appropriate site content related ads would appear on your site. Due to the use of a competitive ad filter, specific competitions ads will not appear. Only relevant ads that will be useful to your site visitors will be attached to your site. You can feel confident about the ads that appear on your site as the Google team performs editorial reviews to ensure that only appropriate ads appear. With easy to use advertising and solid guidelines for customer protection, Google AdSense simply makes sense. The benefits are many and there is little to no downside to this marketing tool. Information on this process is clear, concise and easy to follow as you ad this helpful tool to your site. Mark Styranka is the owner of Exciting Destiny.com and Bargain Deals Mart.com. Do you have what it takes to be an e-entrepreneur?Copyright © Stone Evans, The Home Biz Guy Author of "Dotcomology - The Science of Making Money Online"These days, it seems like everyone wants to work from home and make money on the Internet. But before you even turn on your computer, the first question you have to ask yourself is whether you’re cut out for this kind of work. The fact is, building a home-based business is not for everyone. Some people like the commute. They really do enjoy having a boss who tells them what to do, and they like the routine of working nine-to-five for an ordinary salary that can barely pay the mortgage. Personally, I think they are nuts. More reasonably, there are people who are concerned about the risk of starting up their own business. They are not sure it is worth the investment of time and money, and they are scared of the responsibility that comes with running their own company. They wonder if there is another way to escape the rat race. I am sure there is. You could win the lottery or wait for your Aunt Sue to keel over and leave you her condo. Or maybe you could sit down with a pen and paper and draw the blueprint for "The Next Big Thing". Anything can happen... Right? For me, what happened was creating a successful, self-running Internet marketing system. It did not happen without effort. It did not happen without at least some initial investment of both time and money and, of course, it does not happen now without me making sure that the taxes are filed and the paperwork is done. But it happened. I am my own boss. I work from home according to my own schedule and I get to pocket all the cash my business makes. If you are prepared to give an e-business the time, the work and the money it needs to get started and get growing, it can happen for you too. Copyright © Mark Styranka http://www.ExcitingDestiny.comAs we start the new year, it's a good idea to reflect on what has happened in the previous one so that we can set our intentions for the next. It used to be that new years intentions had a short-term, descriptive meaning for something that we wanted to change about ourselves. So we may want to lose weight, exercise more, relax, work, and the like. But what with Dr. Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Jerry & Esther Hicks, The Secret and its teachers (and so on) high lighting the Law of Attraction, intention takes on a larger meaning. Now we know that intention can be powerfully used to create or manifest results into our lives. So we must really look at the results of our past thinking (intentions) as manifested in our lives at the present time. Because, what we have right now is the direct result of what you have been intending or thinking about. If you truly intended to have a home business for example, then you will have one right now. If you only intended that you intended to have a Stay at Home business, then you still only intend to have one. As all of the aforementioned teachers have indicated, we must have the intention, we must act as if we already have it, believe we deserve it, and take action where indicated and appropriate. Many times what we want does not necessarily fall into our laps, and we must do those things to achieve our goals that are presented to us. Our intuition will tell us when it is the right thing to do. If something doesn't feel quite right, then we shouldn't do it. Do not worry about missing a "once in a lifetime" chance as there will be another great opportunity just around the corner. Neither should we hesitate when "it" does feel right. As Dr. Joe Vitale says "The Universe likes speed!" One thing to remember when making a decision is to examine whether any of the possible consequences can be lived with and handled. If a suboptimal choice is made, we will still have the ability to make the optimal choice at any point in time. All options are all available if we look hard enough. Read Gary Zukav's stuff for more on this point. Where do we want to be at the end of 2008? Picture yourself as already there, in every detail. Write this goal down. Bob Proctor suggests to write it like this: I am so happy and grateful now that__________. Create vision boards, boxes, scrapbooks etc... Jack Canfield advises writing a list of all steps needed to achieve your goal (then you can work on them throughout the year) and continually add, delete, and edit the items on the list. You will feel great with the progress and will see positive results. You need to feel the powerful and joyful feeling of gratitude for receiving what you already have as well as the feeling you will have when you get what you are intending. We have a great opportunity, each and every day to create the things in our lives that we want. What is it that you really want? Dream big dreams and see them to fruition. Bob Proctor points out that if anyone anywhere has achieved something before, then it is possible for someone else to do the same.
