Samsung Instinct Review
By: Sam Lee

Samsung Instinct features an advanced 3.1" touchscreen with a 2.0 megapixel camera and full virtual QWERTY keyboard and internet browser. It is also equipped with GPS which allows seamless navigation convenience.

The design of the Instinct is very 'basic' if you like, but that's what seems to make it so stylish - the front has a plain panel with a 240x432 touch screen displaying 262k colors and 3 basic buttons, and is very thin (only 12.5mm thick). The phone is available in silver or pink. The rear of the phone is also very basic with just a simple, black finish and a small camera at the top. This camera, like most touch screen phones, isn't as advanced as you may like - only 2MP and doesn't have flash or autofocus, but does manage digital zoom. Video recording capability is also enabled on Samsung Instinct.

Internal memory on the phone is poor - only 32Mb - but Samsung does realise that and has included an additional 2GB microSD memory card for expanded storage. If 2GB external storage isn't sufficient, users may replace it with larger capacity cards up to the maximum supported size of 8GB.

Despite the lack of WiFi connectivity, Samsung Instinct makes it up with its fast 3G connection coupled with a full HTML internet browser for maximum web surfing experience. It also has built in GPS to help you find your way with the growing use of SatNav applications becoming available for such phones like Google Maps Mobile. As for stamina, talk time is a fairly average at 5.75 hours, but that will still manage a very long phone call!

The music player supports the formats you are most likely to need out of a phone - MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA. WMA support is handy as it means that CDs ripped into Windows Media Player will be compatible with this device. There is, of course, a 3.5mm jack for you to listen to your tunes from, and a USB connection for quick and easy transfer of your music to your phone. Video playback supports both MPEG4 and H.264 formats should suffice the average user.

The Samsung Instinct; a well balanced and all rounded device - it's stylish, it's easy to use, it's professional for business use, and its got enough features to impress someone keen on technology. If you're looking at buying a good touch screen phone that's value-for-money, you should consider this as a serious option.
